Teaching

My commitment to education extends far beyond the concert stage. I held a position as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the UO School of Music and Dance, mentoring and instructing both undergraduate and graduate students; taught a creative music class at Metro Montessori/ChildPeace Elementary School in Portland; taught improvisation at the Oakwood School in Los Angeles; served as an intersession instructor at CalArts; and was a guest teaching artist at five Portland schools. I was a featured soloist in a virtual concert for the Stanford University Online High School, my alma mater. I’m currently a guest teaching artist at Clackamas High School.

I also teach private lessons, helping students cultivate excellence through elite musical training. I also bring an integrated approach to my pedagogue, one that offers wisdom from multiple aspects and fields of music as well as other disciplines and modes of thought, like psychology and neuroscience, Eastern contemplative traditions, Integral Theory, the art and science of breathing, and more. My students have earned a number of placements in regional competitions, including at the Regional Solo/Ensemble Festival in Portland, the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival, and League Festivals.

I am 110% invested in the actualization of my students’ potential.
